I know that as a business owner it is hard to imagine a “funny” marketing mistake. But these might make you giggle…
- In Japanese, “Siri” translates to “ass”. Apple’s dynamite new product is now the butt of many jokes.
- European phone giant, Nokia, named their most recent phone “Lumia” – it is an old Spanish term for “prostitute”. Does that mean the phone mostly works after dark?
- Swedish home furnishings maker, Ikea, once named a desk “Fartfull”. Probably not the intended consequence they were hoping for – just don’t get a nose-full of those drawers.
So, what is the lesson here? Google it before you name it… or just roll with the punches 🙂
