Can you name some funny marketing mistakes?

uh oh - a few marketing mistakesIt has been a trying last few days for many of us in the Northeast. I thought a humorous post was in order…

I know that as a business owner it is hard to imagine a “funny” marketing mistake. But these might make you giggle…

  1. In Japanese, “Siri” translates to “ass”. Apple’s dynamite new product is now the butt of many jokes.
  2. European phone giant, Nokia, named their most recent phone “Lumia” – it is an old Spanish term for “prostitute”. Does that mean the phone mostly works after dark?
  3. Swedish home furnishings maker, Ikea, once named a desk “Fartfull”. Probably not the intended consequence they were hoping for – just don’t get a nose-full of those drawers.
So, what is the lesson here? Google it before you name it… or just roll with the punches 🙂
